Tuesday morning wake up stats…

The first email I opened in my inbox this morning was from Slow Food. They are celebrating 20 years of doing the awesome things they do. But they make sure to point out that there is a LONG way to go, and they do so with some very intense facts, that I wanted to share here:

“The reality is stark: Around the world, fifty food crops are lost to extinction every day. Over a billion people suffer from starvation and malnutrition, while more than two billion people suffer from diabetes and obesity. Farmers receive as little as nine cents out of every dollar spent on food – the rest goes to corporations and transportation costs.”

Just a little food for thought…
